Aswan
We finally arrived in Aswan after two weeks cycling from Cairo. Nine of those days were spent spinning the wheels and we covered 950km. Our route was mostly on busy roads with good running surface, apart from today, when we hit gravel. Daniel McDermott found another puncture today on the rough roads and we took a lift over that section in the back of an open pick up on the west side of the river, through desert landscape. Fatter tyres required!
Early morning starts around six o’clock, and this morning was very cold until the eastern sunrise took effect.
Aswan Bridge, just down stream from the city.
Just north of Aswan on the West Bank of the Nile the desert starts and is close to the road. At times the quality of the road is poor and water stops are few and far between.
An evening Felucca trip and a swim at the first cataract before the Aswan Dam just about finished the trip in style.
