Mountain history

By Alan Kimber on 30/09/2014

For those of us interested in recent (50-60 years) mountain history, especially mountain rescue and general adventure. Check out the John Hinde diaries

Thanks to Fiona, his daughter for archiving these online. I was fortunate enough to work with John at Loch Eil Centre. He was also on an joint services expedition to Mt McKinley in 1962. A ‘true’ adventurer. An inspirational person.

  1. Thanks Geoff. His memory lives on through the family, all of whom are adventurous and he would have been proud of.

    Hi Allan

Having worked with John at Loch Eil in his later years, he was one in a million & as you said an inspiration. For the benefit of other ex-OBers I’ve been posting pics of the pages from Lochaber Life on Facebook.
I remember how thorough John’ s journals were & would happily read as much gets published.
    Cheers
    Geoff
